I'm a poet / essayist / memoirist/
journalist (in the sense of keeping a journal, not of working for a newspaper) and it occurred to me that a blog fits in with all that. If Montaigne, father of the essay, were alive today, he'd keep a blog. This is my self-portrait as frustrated artist who can't believe she's not famous yet. (And because it's part of my artistic endeavor, the whole damn thing is copyrighted. All rights reserved.)

Please Vote in the Stupidest Poll Ever

Last week I heard about this PBS poll that asks a single question: Do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States? At the point I voted, there were about 54% voting yes, about 48% voting no, about 5% voting not sure, and who knows what happened to the other one percent. Now it's 54% voting yes, 44% voting no, and two percent have disappeared. Apparently there's some right-wing email campaign encouraging people to vote yes, so if you haven't already voted no, take a moment to do so, and encourage your friends to do likewise.

Sadly, the poll is a trick question. From a strict Constitutional standpoint, Palin is fully qualified to be Vice President. From a practical, foreign and domestic policy standpoint, she is the worst choice since Dick Cheney. (And that's being generous to the Dickster.)
